This might be the best way to overcome the present economic crisis. So, lets get to know more about this program and most important of all, how to join the program and start earning revenue immediately! In order to understand Google Adsense without distortion, let me quote it directly from Google.

“Google AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant, unobtrusive Google ads on their website’s content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your users are looking for on your site, you’ll finally have a way to both monetize and enhance your content pages. It’s also a way for web site publishers to provide Google search to their site users, and to earn money by displaying Google ads on the search results pages.

The program is free, and combines pay-per-click and pay-per-impression advertising – meaning you get paid for valid clicks on the ads on your site or search results pages as well as impressions on your content pages. So go ahead and try this program. If you comply with our program policies, just complete our online application and select either or both of AdSense for content pages and AdSense for search. One application gets you approved for both AdSense and AdSense for search – you can decide to use any combination of these products on your pages.”

Keep in mind that participation in AdSense requires you to have a website. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for a free blog at www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com You must also make sure that your website has good and morally accepted contents in order to be accepted into this program. Websites with illegal or immoral contents such as pornography are strictly banned from joining the program.

The Concept of AdSense

A lot of people ask me question about pay-per-click program like AdSense, they simply do not understand why the publishers get paid through this program. They do not know where does the money come from.

I will try to explain the concept in as plain language as possible so that everyone can understand.  Google’s Pay-Per-Click program actually involve three parties, the first party are the advertisers, the second party is Google and the third party are the publishers. Advertisers wish to market their products and services to the Internet audience through online advertising, and they are willing to pay the advertising fees. However, in order to reach a wide audience, they need to rely on an Internet advertising agent which already has wide coverage network, so they look for an agent like Google. Google then publish their advertisements through the publishers who are already Google’s registered users, and Google has the largest user base in the world, which could be a few billions of them, though it may be surpassed by Facebook in the near future.

Google collects advertisement fees from the advertisers through a program known as AdWords, the opposite of AdSense. Google then keep a large portion of the fees collected and pay the balance to the publishers as commissions. So can you see the relationship between the three parties? To use laymen language, Google is the middle man that collects money from the advertisers, keep a large percentage of it and pay the balance to the publishers as commissions. By the way, AdWords is also part of the Pay-Per-Click program, but instead of getting payment per click, they have to pay Google for every single valid click. Cost per click varies from a few cents to as much as ten dollars depending on the keywords, some keywords pay higher and some keywords pay lower. There is also a bidding system where advertisers bid for a certain keyword and the highest bidders get to display their ads. Google also uses automated contents targeting system to match advertisers and the publishers, which means advertisements that appear on publishers’ websites always almost match the websites’ contents, it is indeed a very sophisticated matching system.

Types of AdSense
These are seven types of AdSense that can monetize your website, they are

  • AdSense for Contents
  • AdSense for Search
  • AdSense for Feeds
  • AdSense for Mobile Content
  • AdSense for Video
  • AdSense for Domains
  • AdSense for Mobile Applications

AdSense for Contents
Google AdSense is a program for website publishers like you and me to display relevant, unobtrusive Google ads on their website’s content pages and earn money. The ads automatically appear on publishers’ websites once they placed the JavaScript codes on their web pages, and usually should match the contents of the websites. The algorithm used by Google’s computer robots is based on the keywords that appear in the contents of the website as well as the meta tag of the HTML code. The program is free, and it combines pay-per-click and pay-per-impression advertising , which means you get paid for valid clicks on the ads on your site as well as impressions.

AdSense for Search
AdSense for search is program that allows publishers to place a search box on their sites and earn money from relevant ads that appear on the search results page.

AdSense for feeds
AdSense for feeds allows web publishers to earn money by placing contextually targeted ads in their news feeds. AdSense for feeds works the way the rest of the AdSense program works: by delivering ads that are relevant to your content and your readers. You are paid by clicks and impressions. The easiest way to create a feed is by creating a blog.
**A feed is a format that allows your content to be delivered (and subscribed to) on the web, often as headlines, summaries or articles. Users subscribe to feeds, often through a feed aggregator such as Bloglines or FeedDemon, which gives them access to all desired feeds in one location. This allows users to preview your content wherever they go, making it easier for them to find out what’s new on your site and reminding them to come back (Google’s Help Forum)
AdSense for Mobile Contents
AdSense for mobile content allows publishers to generate earnings from their mobile webpages , or webpages that appear in the cell phones, using targeted Google ads. Just like AdSense for content, with AdSense for mobile content Google matches ads to the content of your mobile website. You’ll earn money whenever your mobile website’s visitors click on your ads.
To be able to use AdSense for Mobile Contents, you need to create website which is mobile compliant, otherwise it would work. You can rewrite your existing website in a mobile markup language, such as XHTML, WML, or CHTML. You’ll also have to make sure the layout of your website is formatted correctly in order to display on mobile phones.
*This service is currently available in limited number of countries.

AdSense for Video
AdSense for video allows publishers with video content to earn revenue using relevant, non-intrusive ad placements from Google’s extensive advertiser network. Video content will display both in Video overlay and text overlay ads. AdSense for video is still in Beta phase and may only be implemented for pages and videos that are in English with traffic primarily from the United States. Hopefully this program will be available soon in other countries.

AdSense for Domain
AdSense for domains allows publishers with unused domains to help users reach relevant information by presenting content on the domains. According to research, users often type domains into their address bar or follow expired links leading to sites with no content. Instead of an 404 error or a blank page, AdSense for domains provides links, search results, advertisements and other content. To do this, Google use semantic technology targeted to the domain name. You earn revenue when users click the ads on your site.

AdSense for Mobile Application
This program is still in beta phase and only available in the US. Acording to Google, AdSense for mobile applications allows publishers to monetize their mobile applications with Google ads. Ads are specifically formatted for high-end phones and can be integrated directly into iPhone and Android applications.
